About New Beds
Now that you have purchased your new bedding set there are certain aspects you should be made aware of. To ensure the best sleep and get the most out your new bed learn about comfort impressions, proper bed support, dos and don'ts of bed care and bed adjustment periods.
Comfort Impressions
New beds often leave comfort impressions when it is first used. This is particularly true of today’s plusher, soft-surface bedding. It is merely the settling of the cushioning material and is not an indication of structural failure.
Bed Support
Bedding must have proper support. Putting new bedding on an inadequate foundation can damage the bedding and reduce its useful life. Sagging of bedding is usually caused by either:
- Putting a new mattress on an old foundation, or
- An inadequate bed frame. Any adult bed should have a heavy-duty frame with proper center support for King and Queen sizes.
Dos and Don’ts of Bed Care
DO:
- Vacuum your bedding regularly and otherwise keep it clean.
- Use the proper size mattress pad
- Enjoy your new bedding. Remember you spend up to a third of your life in bed.
DON’T:
- Bend the mattress to get it through a doorway
- Allow children to jump on the mattress or foundation
- Let the bedding get wet. Towel-dry spills immediately
- Bend corners of the mattress to put on fitted sheets
Adjustment Period
Once your new bed has been delivered allow for 4-6 weeks for your body to adjust to your new mattress before you form an opinion. In the event that you cannot adjust to your new mattress after the allotted time we do offer a
Comfort Exchange.
