Mattress Promotes Healthy Sleep by Going Green
Phoenix, AZ (April 8, 2008) -- Mattress manufacturers are putting more emphasis on going green by using sustainable natural materials and it may pay off in a better night’s rest for you. “Latex is a renewable resource harvested from the tropical rubber tree, much like maple syrup,” said Kerry Heaps, Bedmart regional manager. “When transformed into Latex rubber it becomes one of the most supple and supportive bedding materials available.”
The advantages of natural Latex include being dust mite resistant, anti-microbial and hypo allergenic. “Latex is a great bedding product for Arizona. Customers who want the full-body support of foam, but also want a ‘cool’ bed can choose a Latex mattress. Because latex is a natural product, it breaths and allows air to circulate,” Heaps continued.
Bedmart has recently added the Origins mattress to its product line. Made with a higher percentage of natural Latex rather than petro-chemical based synthetic Latex, the Origins mattresses focus on using natural fibers. “The surface of this mattress includes silk fibers infused with protective silver to create a naturally anti-static defense against bacteria and odor causing microbes,” Heaps explained. The cover is also infused with copper which also has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties as well as being considered therapeutic.
“We are seeing both more bedding companies and more customers who are creating or buying products that leave a smaller carbon foot print, use sustainable materials and promote better indoor air – and give the full support and pressure relief needed for a sound sleep,” Heaps concluded.
